God bless Coretta

Coretta Scott King, the first lady of the Civil Rights Movement has passed on today to sip wine with her husband Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., play cards with Ghandi and a few rounds of Nintendo with Jesus.

Who knows where our cherished fighters for peace, freedom, equality and justice go when they pass away but for sure they remain in our hearts in our minds.

All of the luxuries we enjoy in this so-called "free" nation were fought for by the bravest of the bravest. Coretta Scott King was the fearless wife who continued Dr. King's fight after his assassination and even helped land him his own national Holiday. God bless her soul. Peace!

Update: Rhodian Attic has a great collection of Coretta & Martin Luther King pics!

Juvenile & Scarface... Dirty South Attack!

Southern artists take Bush & the Government to the woodshed

Ever since the whole Hurricane Katrina tragedy took place, I've been on ChicoTown.com calling for southern emcees to use their power in the media to oppose the Bush Crime Family over their neglect. 50 Cent says you can't blame Bush for Katrina, but I say you CAN blame Bush for the slow response and for neutering FEMA to the point that it got in the way of the relief efforts.
In a new video, Juvenile is dissing Bush's pussy ass for what occurred in New Orleans, check out these quotes from SOHH.com:
Juvenile, who lost his own home to the natural disaster, uses this [new] video ("Get Ya Hustle On/What's Happenin',") to give a voice to the disenfranchised masses that were inhumanely treated in the wake of the tragedy.

Directed by Ben Mor, the video follows three children who find three masks in the city's rubble, which are each inscribed with the words, "Help Is Coming," on one side, and the faces of President George W. Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney, and New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin on the other.

The video is introduced with the words, "This is a tribute to those who died in the wrath of Hurricane Katrina. The storm may have passed, but for thousands the struggle is just beginning."

In other Dirty South news... Houston native, Scarface, spoke truth to power in the latest issue of Ozone magazine. Even though he says he wont get all "Public Enemy" on our asses, he says he will address politics in his next album "Made". Check out these quotes from Scarface in Ozone Magazine:
I'm talking about HATRED. The Government Hates Niggas. The reason they let niggas work in the government is so they won't look so suspicious.

Rumor has it that the best way to hide something from a nigga is to put it in a book... If niggas started reading the history of slavery, you'll understand it and know exactly who to blame. 'Cause, believe it or not, its all in the books.
Pretty strong words from a Hip Hop Legend, lets hope it spurs a new drive in the hood to read more books and to keep an eye out for Bush's government. Scarface also speaks on the US deficit, the Iraqi insurgency, Gun rights, and why McDonald's sucks ass, among other things. (Click for article page 1, page 2, page 3, and page 4)

Hip Hop needs to continue this trend of speaking on the issues... not just hoes and cash!

All it takes is ONE State for Impeachment!

Holy Mother of God, this is why blogs exists...

Don't expect the Traditional Media outlets to report this sort thing. A blogger over at DailyKos.com put together a good case for impeaching the Bush Crime Family based on precedents set by the State of Florida in impeaching a federal judge. Here's what the rules say according to arbortender:
Pages 314-315 of the House Rules for the 109th Congress, incorporating Jefferson's Manual, which the House uses as a supplement to its standing rules, read as follows:

Section 603. Inception of impeachment proceedings in the House.
In the House there are various methods of setting an impeachment in motion:
(yakyakyak;)
by charges transmitted from the legislature of a State (III, 2469)

In the blog post by arbortender you'll see a full set of articles of impeachment too. I you need to do is fill in the blanks with the name of your home State and submit it to your legislator. Lets see which State legislature has the cojones to hit the Bush Crime Family first. Could it be yours? Only you can decide. (That means get off your ass and do something!)

Why We Fight... ask Ike

Here's another movie with a deep message that asks the viewer to question "Why we fight?" Ask Ike! Dwight David "Ike" Eisenhower the Republican President and American General during World War II warned us about the evils of the "military-industrial complex". That's when the military and the arms industry get in bed and make a love child of hate and destruction that gets fed and babysat by crooked politicians.

After World War II, the United States was left with a brand-spankin' new military arms industry (that we didn't need before) and a huge Federal push for research and development to keep our military technologically advance in the name of security. Since then it's spiraled out of control into a sick culture of war profiteers, bastards, scallywags, pirates, grifters, and Dick Cheney.

"Why We Fight" won the grand jury prize at the Sundance Film Festival and critics are saying it was better than "Fahrenheit 9/11". The Director wanted to make a non-partisan film that took a serious look at our obsession with war and the profits that are made in the process. Check out the trailer here. (The movie opens Friday 1/20/06, so check your local listings, biatch!)

Media shits on Gore's speech: "Constitutional Crisis"

On MLK day, Al Gore's speech also shunned by the Media

Al Gore delivered an incredible speech today where he ate the Bush Crime Family alive for their blatant disrespect for our Constitution. On Crooks & Liars they posted this quote explaining how the Traditional Media treated this historic speech:
"If a tree falls in a forest... A former Vice-President of the United States delivers a major speech accusing George W. Bush of breaking the law. What do all three cable news nets cover under the "Breaking News" banner? An overturned tanker truck on a New York highway."

Everyone and their mother who saw the speech on CSPAN is scrambling to get it out by bootlegging DVDs or circulating mass emails with the video. Fourty-something years after Dr. King's death and our struggle for peace and justice continues. Check out these quotes from Al Gore's speech as posted on RawStory.com:
When President Bush failed to convince Congress to give him all the power he wanted when they passed the AUMF, he secretly assumed that power anyway, as if congressional authorization was a useless bother. But as Justice Frankfurter once wrote: "To find authority so explicitly withheld is not merely to disregard in a particular instance the clear will of Congress. It is to disrespect the whole legislative process and the constitutional division of authority between President and Congress."

It is this same disrespect for America's Constitution which has now brought our republic to the brink of a dangerous breach in the fabric of the Constitution. And the disrespect embodied in these apparent mass violations of the law is part of a larger pattern of seeming indifference to the Constitution that is deeply troubling to millions of Americans in both political parties.

Thank God a majority of Americans agree with impeachment on the grounds of this wiretapping crime committed by the Bush Crime Family. Read the full Al Gore speech and tell a friend or two... the Traditional Media wont do it but the blogs and "we the people" sure will. We're all we got!

Happy Birthday Doc!

As you should know, today is the US national holiday celebrating the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. In the years since the civil rights movement was lead by Dr. King we've seen alot of progress and yet so much regression. The greatest crime of contemporary culture and the media has been the pigeon-holing Dr. King's message to make it seem as if he only served the black community. If you study his works and his sermons you'll realize that he came to serve all of humanity, every race, creed, and community.

Its a crime to treat this holiday as nothing more than a "black holiday" (or a Free day from school/work) and to suggest that his life didn't affect yours just because you are not of an African decent. Its your holiday too, realize it, embrace it, and help continue his legacy and his progress towards universal peace and tolerance.

God bless Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and everyone who continues his work. Here's a few quotes for you to chew on. Peace!

  • Let us not seek to satisfy our thirst for freedom by drinking from the cup of bitterness and hatred. We must ever conduct our struggle on the high plane of dignity and discipline. We must not allow our creative protest to degenerate into physical violence. Again and again we must rise to the majestic heights of meeting physical force with soul force.

  • I submit that an individual who breaks a law that conscience tells him is unjust, and who willingly accepts the penalty of imprisonment in order to arouse the conscience of the community over its injustice, is in reality expressing the highest respect for the law.

  • We must learn to live together as brothers or perish together as fools.

  • If man hasn't discovered something that he will die for, he isn't fit to live.

  • In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.

  • We are prone to judge success by the index of our salaries or the size of our automobile rather than by the quality of our service and relationship to mankind.

  • Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.

  • Our scientific power has outrun our spiritual power. We have guided missiles and misguided men.

  • Nonviolence is the answer to the crucial political and moral questions of our time; the need for mankind to overcome oppression and violence without resorting to oppression and violence. Mankind must evolve for all human conflict a method which rejects revenge, aggression, and retaliation. The foundation of such a method is love.

    Bush broke law BEFORE 9/11

Whut the fuck? Honestly, if there was EVER any reason to impeach a president:
Still, one thing that appears to be indisputable is that the NSA surveillance began well before 9/11 and months before President Bush claims Congress gave him the power to use military force against terrorist threats, which Bush says is why he believed he had the legal right to bypass the judicial process.

According to the online magazine Slate, an unnamed official in the telecom industry said NSA's "efforts to obtain call details go back to early 2001, predating the 9/11 attacks and the president's now celebrated secret executive order. The source reports that the NSA approached U.S. carriers and asked for their cooperation in a 'data-mining' operation, which might eventually cull 'millions' of individual calls and e-mails."
Bush claims the events of 9/11 justify his violation of the Bill of Rights, but if he was ALREADY spying on us why wasn't 9/11 prevented in the first place? Why not? Because that excuse for violating our civil rights is bullshit!

These Republican ass-cakes in congress are the biggest sacks of crap ever. They damn near crucified Clinton for lying about sex! While Bush keeps these crimes coming one after another and the Republicans are ready to roll over and let him have his way. Especially when it comes to Scalito's . Hypocritical bastards. We demand an of the Bush Crime Family.

Real ID as useful as Paris Hilton

And the world can definitely live without dumb-ass Paris Hilton... and those horrible Real ID's. Libertarians hate them because they are a waste of money and they invade our privacy. Democrats SHOULD hate them for the privacy issue. Republicans... suck. We'll to be fair, having national ID's is some shit the Soviet Union would do, for the sake of Ronald Reagan's legacy (*yawn*) this would be counterproductive and Republicans should oppose it too (if not they really suck). All other political parties should oppose Real ID's for these reasons also:
"“Civil liberties groups, conservative groups, immigration groups,– we'’ve all been warning that Real ID will be a real disaster and needs to be revisited by Congress,"” said ACLU Legislative Counsel Timothy Sparapani. "“This time Congress needs to do it right and actually hold hearings, listen to all the different interests and real-world practical difficulties, and give it an up-or-down vote, none of which happened when it was rammed through last spring."”
Whoever you are, what ever you believe, opposing the REAL IDs is a serious cause that you need to get involved in NOW before it's too late and your ass will be stuck carrying an RFID chip and subjecting to Big Brother's watchful eye.

    Scalito is a gutless bastard

This week the official nomination hearings for the Bush Crime Family's new US Supreme court choice have begun. Judge Scalito (Samuel Alito) is proving again that he is a gutless bastard. Since his nomination was announced til' now his record of being a radical anti-civil rights, anti-privacy, anti-"everything that is decent" judge has been exposed. Do some research and you'll uncover all kinds of filthy shit from this prick.

If you're bored, toss back a few cold ones and watch the CSPAN hearings (or catch the funny version on The Daily Show) and watch out for Scalito's excuse that he was kissing President Ronald Reagan's ass when we made some of his most controversial remarks. It's a sad excuse, really. It proves again that he's got no spine and that he worships who ever gets him a gig.

Call your senator and tell them we deserve better! Fuck Scalito.

Update: Check out this video, the Senate Confirmation hearings are heating up with Republicans trying to hide Scalito's past with bullshit excuses. Scalito looks like a lair and a coward trying to hide his record.

Update 2: A funny ass video of Republican douche-bag John Cornyn calling Judge Alito "Scalito". The name is catching on since Alito is the minnie-me of Judge Scalia.

Open up Cuba... we need the jobs!

Frank Gonzalez, a Libertarian-minded candidate for Congress, is pushing hard to end the 40-year embargo on Cuba because "it is unethical, unconstitutional and economically unwise." The economic reasons are spelled out in this CBS report with the following quotes:
...it makes sense for American businessmen to get a foot in the door. "The people who are selling food now know that this is an island with 11 ½ million people besides Fidel Castro and when Fidel Castro is no longer in power those 11 ½ million people are still going to be here."

Tim Lynch, who holds a doctorate in economics and is director of the Center for Economic Forecasting and Analysis at Florida State University, has predicted that free trade with Cuba could generate $50 billion and 900,000 jobs for the United States over a 20-year period.

Republican and Democratic governors from several states have already struck million-dollar deals with Cuba to sell US-grown products. In a Foster's Online article you'll notice a funny quote from a pissed off Republican who is against trading with Cuba, check out his reasons:

"Fidel Castro has now been in power for over 40 years, and he has never held an election, tolerated other options than his own, nor allowed basic freedoms, including freedom of the press and of assembly for the citizens of Cuba," Gregg said in a prepared statement. "He has imprisoned thousands of Cubans, and he is setting up to have his brother succeed him as a despot and a dictator, so it is hard to understand why we would reward him with lifting the embargo presently in place."

What's funny is that you can replace "Fidel Castro" with "George W. Bush" in that statement and you have a damn near perfect description of Dubya! (Give or take a few facts)

    Government opens you MAIL!

You thought the illegal phone-tapping by the NSA was bad, the government is also opening our mail and they aren't trying to hide it! These quotes are from MSNBC:
A spokesman for the Customs and Border Protection division said he couldn't speak directly to Goodman's case but acknowledged that the agency can, will and does open mail coming to U.S. citizens that originates from a foreign country whenever it's deemed necessary.

"All mail originating outside the United States Customs territory that is to be delivered inside the U.S. Customs territory is subject to Customs examination," says the CBP Web site. That includes personal correspondence. "All mail means 'all mail'," said John Mohan, a CBP spokesman, emphasizing the point.

"This process isn't something we're trying to hide," Mohan said, noting the wording on the agency's Web site. "We've had this authority since before the Department of Homeland Security was created," Mohan said.

Again, our privacy goes out the window. Bush's excuse for violating our civil rights is that we're at war and that he has a responsibility to protect the American people. This is bullshit, the war was manufactured and shitting on the Bill of Rights will not protect us.

    Beautiful...

Found this "letter to the editor" on DailyKos:

I have been a registered Republican all of my adult life, but after observing the Bush administration for the past five years, I feel obliged to express my public outrage at the actions of a president who claims to represent my party.

The Republican Party I joined 25 years ago believed in fiscal responsibility.
Under the "leadership" of President Bush, domestic spending has risen at the fastest rate since Lyndon Johnson's "great society," and of all the pork-filled bills passed by Congress, Bush has not vetoed even one.

Consequently, the deficit has ballooned, and future generations face an ever-growing mountain of debt.

    Is this fiscal responsibility?

The old Republican Party championed the individual against the might of Washington, D.C., but this president in his arrogance thinks checks and balances don't apply to him.
He asks us to trust his judgment with our civil liberties, but why should we?

His judgment must be questioned because the only thing that matches the administration's arrogance is its incompetence.

One only has to consider the prosecution of the Iraqi occupation, the shambles of post-war reconstruction or the hurricane response to realize that this administration is not fit to be trusted with the rights and liberties that generations of Americans have sacrificed to acquire and preserve.

President Bush has called for an investigation to find out who leaked the information about his domestic spying program.

In reality, it is this appallingly arrogant administration's blatant and egregious abuses of power that should be investigated.

    William T. S.
    Letters to the Editor
    Portland Press Herald

It's great to start off the year with Republicans jumping ship on the Bush Crime Family. Some of those "positive" traits the writer mentioned about the Republican party sound pretty Libertarian. Let the GOP sink to the ground along with the Bush Crime Family, if you feel like William T.S. in the letter does then join the Libertarian party and get it off the ground and running. America needs you!
