Southern artists take Bush & the Government to the woodshed
Ever since the whole
Hurricane Katrina tragedy took place, I've been on
ChicoTown.com calling for southern emcees to use their power in the media to
oppose the Bush Crime Family over their neglect.
50 Cent says you can't blame Bush for Katrina, but I say you CAN blame Bush for the slow response and for
neutering FEMA to the point that it got in the way of the relief efforts.
In a new video,
Juvenile is
dissing Bush's pussy ass for what occurred in New Orleans, check out these quotes
from SOHH.com:
Juvenile, who lost his own home to the natural disaster, uses this [new] video ("Get Ya Hustle On/What's Happenin',") to give a voice to the disenfranchised masses that were inhumanely treated in the wake of the tragedy.
Directed by Ben Mor, the video follows three children who find three masks in the city's rubble, which are each inscribed with the words, "Help Is Coming," on one side, and the faces of President George W. Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney, and New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin on the other.
The video is introduced with the words, "This is a tribute to those who died in the wrath of Hurricane Katrina. The storm may have passed, but for thousands the struggle is just beginning."
In other Dirty South news... Houston native,
Scarface, spoke truth to power in the latest issue of
Ozone magazine. Even though he says he wont get all "
Public Enemy" on our asses, he says he will address politics in his next album "
Made". Check out these quotes from
Scarface in Ozone Magazine:
I'm talking about HATRED. The Government Hates Niggas. The reason they let niggas work in the government is so they won't look so suspicious.
Rumor has it that the best way to hide something from a nigga is to put it in a book... If niggas started reading the history of slavery, you'll understand it and know exactly who to blame. 'Cause, believe it or not, its all in the books.
Pretty strong words from a Hip Hop Legend, lets hope it spurs a new drive in the hood to read more books and to keep an eye out for Bush's government.
Scarface also speaks on the US deficit, the Iraqi insurgency, Gun rights, and why McDonald's sucks ass, among other things.
(Click for article page 1, page 2, page 3, and page 4)Hip Hop needs to continue this trend of
speaking on the issues... not just hoes and cash!
